Rev your engines and steep your tea for a spot of Splendid Teapot Racing this April! We invite you to join us for the jolly good whimsical timed obstacle course that is raced with custom Teapot RC vehicles.

Splendid Teapot Racing is a sport that began in New Zealand, but quickly spread around the World. It is a timed obstacle course of candlesticks, ramps, a tunnel, and a gateway that must be traversed using a remote controlled vehicles that must contain a teapot somewhere in the design. Racers are judged on design, speed, maneuverability, and showmanship.

All ages and abilities are welcome.

Lisa Rooney

Lisa Rooney’s interest in the sport of teapot racing began when her son, Aidan, showed her a video of the teapot races in New Zealand and said, “I want to do that”, so they built a teapot racer together. “Now, who do I race?” Aidan asked, so his mom founded the Splendid Teapot Racing Florida Facebook page. She, also, contacted Renninger’s Steampunk Industrial Show and was warmly invited to hold the first teapot race in Florida there. Lisa built the obstacle course and made all the prize ribbons herself. She has since conducted teapot races in Florida, Missouri, and Illinois. Aidan has mild cerebral palsy and this has turned out to be the perfect sport for him, since Splendid Teapot Racing was designed to be accessible to people of any age or ability.
